DIY Sea Salt Scrub

Ready to try your hand at a little DIY? Consider making a custom exfoliating scrub right at home! "I'm obsessed with DIY beauty recipes, especially when they call for natural and pure ingredients," dished Melissa Quin, creator of style, wellness and fitness blog Viralz9.com.
Summer calls for quick and easy skin care, so you'll love this super, simple recipe. "This sea salt scrub is perfect for summer," Quin said. "I mean, doesn't sea salt just scream summer?" Quin's simple, at-home DIY scrub has just three ingredients: Shea butter, sea salt and coconut oil.
If you're fearful of DIY instructions, try this one first. "It's such a simple recipe," Melissa reassured us. "Just mix all the ingredients together and seal it in a jar. I use this body scrub once a week in the shower. I apply it on my skin gently, then wash it off. When I get out of the shower, I moisturize right away. And there you have it! Silky, smooth, and hydrated skin," she said.

All you'll need is a jar of Out of Africa Lavender Pure Shea Butter ($13), coconut oil, three to four parts fine ground sea salt ($6), a plate, a spoon and a Mason Jar. That's it!
Here's how to create your very own scrub.
First. Using your spoon, place one part shea butter and one part coconut oil on the plate. Melissa opted for Out of Africa's Lavender Pure Shea Butter. It's 100% pure, unrefined and is hand-harvested in Africa. We recommend also choosing lavender because it adds a relaxing and calming scent.

Second. Add the 3-4 parts sea salt to the plate and slowly start to mix the ingredients together. "We've all heard so much about the skin benefits of coconut oil. So, I love pairing coconut oil with shea butter," Melissa told us. "I like to think it adds even more benefits. And why sea salt? never underestimate the power of natural exfoliants to slough away dead skin.

Third. Carefully transfer all 3 of the ingredients to the jar and thoroughly mix everything together to finish.
